Purged hundreds of years ago by the High Lord's degree, the truthhearers had the inate ability to detect spoken lies without fail. Believed to be extinct, yet still under threat of death from the law, they hide in the shadows.

Born as a peasant, eleven-year-old Elena - a truthhearer - becomes the ward of Lord Felix at the request of her dying mother. At nineteen, she is betrothed to marry a rich, but cruel man. Desperate to escape her fate, she enlists the aid of High Lord Thomas who rescues her by marrying her.

Tragedy soon strikes, threatening to tear apart their growing love. Struggling under the burden of her gift, Elena risks her life in search of the truth. But the secrets of her past and present come back to haunt her, and Elena must risk everything on the strength of her husband's love.

Truthhearer is actually a mix of science fiction, fantasy and romance. It's set in a fantasy-type setting, but there is no magic, only science (genetics). Romance is also a driving force.
